One more thing was added to our various activities on Tuesday: we opened the Flying Instrument Making Workshop.
Location: Jeżyce Cultural Center at 5/7 Jackowskiego Street.
Cast: a group of brave ten-year-olds ready for creative challenges under the aegis of our three special envoys.
Marta Bogucka spoke to workshop participants about the kalimba, and Cyryl Zakrzewski and Konrad Starczewski made every effort to ensure that the sawing and nailing of the boards and the stringing were carried out efficiently and safely. Hammers, nails, saws, wire, screwdrivers – everything was in motion, and little fingers were safe and sound. The finale was a mini-concert featuring plucks and clangs, using a glass window as a resonator. The children chorused: "It was great, great, great!"„
Further editions of the project are planned (April 29 and May 13, 5-7 p.m.), which accompany an educational campaign related to David Chesky's opera "Of Mice and War, or the Story of Brave Albert and the Yellow Cheese." The Poznań Musical Theatre has added it to its repertoire.

The exhibition "Design from our backyard" / "Next door design", which will be shown this weekend at the Jabłkowski Brothers Department Store, presents designs and objects by masters of Polish design and their most talented students.

How can we achieve this? The outstanding projects that originate in the minds of our designers, in their sketchbooks, and on their computer screens must come to life. At the exhibition, you'll see furniture and other items that actually exist. Some are prototypes, others have already entered production. Because only in this way can the fruits of creative imagination materialize. Because only in this way can you share your passion with others. Because only in this way can you truly transform the world around us into a more functional and beautiful place.
Professor Hałas's masterful idea
Some of the designs were created just a few months ago. But there are others that have waited many years, like the adjustable-height shelving unit invented in 1959 by Rajmund Teofil Hałas. It was lying in a drawer, and we pulled it out into the open. And here it is! It's a delight to the eye. It's becoming an everyday fixture in every apartment – including our own. It's a very contemporary piece of furniture. It has withstood the passage of time, or perhaps it was simply decades ahead of its time. Just like the TRIO chairs, a highly functional variation on the theme of three colors and three shapes. Perfect for three individualists living under one roof. We hope Professor Hałas is happy and cheering us on from a better world.
The legendary armchair of Professor Węcławski
We believe Jan Węcławski is also keeping his fingers crossed for us. At the exhibition, you'll see a photo of his legendary armchair from the Hotel Merkury and learn the story of this piece, which ended up at the Museum of Applied Arts. We dream of giving this armchair a second life. After all, what could be more functional and stylish than Polish furniture from the turn of the 1950s and 1960s? See for yourself!
Cecuła brand porcelain without borders
We are honored that our foundation was chosen by one of Poland's most charismatic designers, Marek Cecuła, to promote his Modus Design Studio. These are extraordinary objects. It's difficult to discern the boundaries between craftsmanship, design, and sculpture. Each one serves its purpose admirably, but also inspires reflection on the world. Kubas RANDOM, with its three distinct digits, may seem intimidating at first glance due to its seriality, but it will soon surprise you with the fact that it's not a series, but a single piece reserved exclusively for us. In a world of ubiquitous codes and logins, this is absolutely appropriate!
Most Modus Design projects invite interaction and playful table arrangement. The CURVED SERIES also inspires experimentation with tablecloths (are we really looking for fabric on the table?). Salt and pepper shakers ZZ They help expand your knowledge of spices. A series of geometric coffee sets will help transform your coffee table into an abstract painting, or rather, multiple paintings, because everyone can "paint with porcelain" differently. What do you think of the RASTER tray? Isn't it pure conceptual art? And it's also a great excuse for artistic play while dining. Enjoy... watching!
We fly and shine!
One object that brings us great joy is Michał Kowalski's Ice Board. His ice board has already been tested on Lake Kierskie. It's incredibly fast! It's also lightweight (you can carry it under your arm!), and Michał strives to keep it as affordable as possible. He loves sports (including extreme sports) and is committed to sharing his passion. Let's keep our fingers crossed for him. And while we're at it, we're also shedding new light on Michał's lamps, which "zip" like a zipper, and folding them is great hands-on fun.
Lamps are also the specialty of Tomasz Andrzej Rudkiewicz – a world-renowned designer for whom design wasn't born the day before yesterday, having been involved in it for years. Did you know that his lamps appeared in Kieślowski's "A Short Film About Love"? Alongside Szapołowska.
The second generation of champions
Our team also includes renowned designers of the younger generation. Katarzyna Laskowska, associated with the University of Arts in Poznań, is our driving force and a highly effective initiator of numerous initiatives aimed at integrating designers and technologists.
There's Ryszard Mańczak (multiple award-winner), creator of the wittily sophisticated GRAZIA sofa, shaped like lips and simply made for kissing, and the functional TANGO pouffes, which can be instantly transformed into a bed for two. Finally, there's Tomasz Augustyniak – constantly busy, modest, with an impressive portfolio of projects for renowned companies and a multiple award-winning designer.
The founder's passion and profession
The brains behind the entire endeavor is Karol Starczewski – the foundation's founder, who decided to combine his passion with his profession. nowymodel.org was born out of… frustration with the difficulty of producing furniture in short runs in Poland. Karol isn't one to give up. He decided to handle not only the design but also the production himself. A full-fledged prototyping workshop has been established (and is still growing) at his company's headquarters. His network of collaborators, specializing in various crafts and technologies (including cutting-edge ones), is also growing.
When does he find time for his own projects? We sometimes joke that he does it in his sleep. Everyone would love to sleep so creatively! KANWA chairs and tables, the SMILE bench, the ROCKING chair, LOCOSYSTEM shelves and podiums, the MOON table… the list goes on. And he sketches in every free moment.

Young designers continue to join this distinguished group. They bring their energy and imagination, and are given the opportunity to work with professionals and realize their projects. We hope that this "stable" will soon be recognized not only in Poland.
Our latest darling is Zosia Żadan's Peekaboo Screens! This young graduate of the Poznań University of Arts approached her graduation project with great care (and humor). Her screens cleverly hide and organize all the things that tend to get tangled and swarmed in our apartments. They do it discreetly, and they're also pleasing to the eye (it sounds like those swarming things are doing it). Congratulations, and we look forward to working with this young and very talented woman!

March 20 in Concordia Design In 2017, the premiere of an exhibition of new porcelain designs, designed by the world-famous ceramist Marek Cecuła for the Polish Porcelain Factories "Ćmielów" and "Chodzież", took place in Poznań.
The Mix&Match exhibition is on view at Concordia Design until March 31.

Two premieres signed by the nowymodel.org brand graced the vernissage on the occasion of the opening of the pop-up store boutique TUTU in Stary Browar in Poznań.
The cozy interior was filled with lovers of original clothing on Wednesday evening. They exchanged comments over good wine, wandered among the densely packed racks, tried on new clothes, and… bought. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Agata Królikowska, the creator of this project. We are delighted that the good ideas of young Polish designers are not only being promoted but also finding customers. After all, this is also what our foundation is committed to. We are all the more grateful for inviting us to collaborate with TUTU.
At the opening, we celebrated two of our premieres: Zosia Żadan's Peekaboo! screens, which are a great solution to all the problems of messy people (and who among us isn't messy?), and Paweł Grajkowski's BANDBAG bag – its original, sculptural form is made from a single piece of fabric.
Designers associated with the new model were in attendance at TUTU. In the photos from the event, you'll obviously see the evening's main stars: Zosia and Paweł, but you'll also recognize Ryszard Mańczak, Michał Kowalski, and Karol Starczewski. His ROCKING chair was particularly popular that evening. A spontaneous demonstration of this furniture's many functions was captured by photographer Bartek Sowa. This chair doesn't just rock! It's also easy to transform into a comfortable bed for expected or unexpected guests.
Our expected and special guest on Wednesday was Magdalena Grabianowska from the Polish Cultural Institute in London. Thank you for accepting our invitation, and we send you our warmest regards!
A pop-up boutique store will be open for the next month right next to the famous sculpture by Igor Mitoraj in the Atrium of Stary Browar. TUTU nowymodel.org arranged this space and added something of their own to it.

The exhibition will present the diploma works of students participating in the 12th and 13th editions of PE-P.
Two of the exhibited diplomas are projects within the 13th PE-P, created in cooperation with nowymodel.org.
