Premiere of new Locosystem functions

On November 20-21, the managers of the R&D project "Locosystem – polymorphic furniture system", implemented by us thanks to European funding, took part in the XXXII International Scientific Conference of the Faculty of Wood Technology, Warsaw University of Life Sciences: WOOD – MATERIAL OF THE 21ST CENTURY.

On November 21, 2018, Prof. Katarzna Laskowska (Deputy R&D Project Manager) and Maciej Sydor, PhD, Eng., delivered a presentation at the conference entitled "Polymorphic furniture system in furniture users' expectations.".

After the presentation, a short discussion ensued, with the following speakers: presenter Katrzyna Laskowska, co-author Maciej Sydor, and people asking questions, including Prof. Wojciech Cichy (ITD in Poznań), Dr. Zuzana Vidholdová (Technical University in Zvolen), and Prof. Ladislav Dzurenda (Technical University in Zvolen).
Questions were asked about the operation and idea of polymorphic furniture, as well as design issues, to which the presenter and co-author provided answers.

The presented issues have also been submitted for publication as Laskowska, K., Sydor, M. (2018). Polymorphic furniture system in furniture users' expectations. Annals of WULS – SGGW, Forestry and Wood Technology, (104).

The project "LOCOSYSTEM POLYMORPHOUS FURNITURE SYSTEM" carried out by Digitouch sp. z o. o. was co-financed from European Funds under Measure 1.1 of the Smart Growth Operational Programme "R&D projects of enterprises", Sub-measure 1.1.1 "Industrial research and development work carried out by enterprises" thanks to funding from the National Centre for Research and Development.

As part of the development of Karol Starczewski's LOCOSYSTEM, we expanded the system's functions from 4 to 10, resulting in the design and production of 19 unique pieces of furniture. The project incorporated the principles of universal design. The new features we added to LOCOSYSTEM are the result of our team's detailed analysis of furniture user needs.

Thanks to the project, we have created a complete offer of furniture solutions, enabling the construction of individual furniture and the arrangement of unusual living spaces within a single, universal, multi-functional and design-coherent system.

LOCOSYSTEM is an innovative, reconfigurable, multifunctional furniture system designed by Karol Starczewski. LOCOSYSTEM modular furniture is a dream come true for all lovers of functional interiors, especially those who value modular solutions that allow them to quickly and easily reshape and transform their living spaces, just like using Lego blocks. It allows for the efficient combination of functions, precisely tailored to the user's needs, additionally arranging the entire living space with a uniform type of furniture. LOCOSYSTEM is ideal for public spaces, offices, and libraries.

The system is based on a patented pin connector – a screwless mounting system that allows for easy assembly of individual components without the use of tools and their placement in any location.

Originally, the system consisted of triangular and rectangular platforms and shelving units with the ability to freely arrange shelves vertically and horizontally. Nine different shelf shapes—straight, curved, wavy, and corner—allowed virtually unlimited freedom in furniture configuration.

Today, we are proud and happy to present the next elements of the system with which we have expanded the LOCOSYSTEM family: a new wall-mounted and free-standing shelf, an adjustable work desk for children and adults with accessories for organizing the space, a multifunctional table with variable height and tabletop surface, an RTV module, two variants of wardrobes for storing clothes and three variants of chests of drawers, thanks to which you can build a wardrobe tailored to the user's needs, a fold-out sofa that is also a full-fledged, comfortable bed, and a pull-out two-level bed.

The simplicity of LOCOSYSTEM, visible not only in the form of furniture but also in the assembly system, offers solutions unavailable on the Polish and global market in an affordable and design-friendly form.
