TUTU or nowymodel.org in the world of fashion

Two premieres signed by the nowymodel.org brand graced the vernissage on the occasion of the opening of the pop-up store boutique TUTU in Stary Browar in Poznań.

The cozy interior was filled with lovers of original clothing on Wednesday evening. They exchanged comments over good wine, wandered among the densely packed racks, tried on new clothes, and… bought. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Agata Królikowska, the creator of this project. We are delighted that the good ideas of young Polish designers are not only being promoted but also finding customers. After all, this is also what our foundation is committed to. We are all the more grateful for inviting us to collaborate with TUTU.

At the opening, we celebrated two of our premieres: Zosia Żadan's Peekaboo! screens, which are a great solution to all the problems of messy people (and who among us isn't messy?), and Paweł Grajkowski's BANDBAG bag – its original, sculptural form is made from a single piece of fabric.

Designers associated with the new model were in attendance at TUTU. In the photos from the event, you'll obviously see the evening's main stars: Zosia and Paweł, but you'll also recognize Ryszard Mańczak, Michał Kowalski, and Karol Starczewski. His ROCKING chair was particularly popular that evening. A spontaneous demonstration of this furniture's many functions was captured by photographer Bartek Sowa. This chair doesn't just rock! It's also easy to transform into a comfortable bed for expected or unexpected guests.

Our expected and special guest on Wednesday was Magdalena Grabianowska from the Polish Cultural Institute in London. Thank you for accepting our invitation, and we send you our warmest regards!

nowymodel.org on TVP Poznań

Our stand at arena DESIGN was visited by reporters from "Telescope".

They were particularly interested in the "Hand made" happening and the historic armchair designed by Jan Węcławski.

Here is their report (material from the fair, approx. 18 minutes into the program):

nowymodel.org at arena DESIGN: see it for yourself, i.e. the exhibition "Design from our backyard"/ "Next door design"„

We invite you to the exhibition "Design from our backyard"/"Next door design", where we will present projects and objects by masters of Polish design and their most talented students.

nowymodel.org is a foundation of designers. We work together because we have one common goal: to make Polish design recognizable and valued both nationally and internationally. How can we achieve this? The outstanding projects that originate in the minds of our designers, in their sketchbooks, and on their computer screens must come to life. We believe this is possible, even though it can be truly challenging. We persevere, regardless of the obstacles. We thrive together!

At the exhibition, you'll see furniture and other items that actually exist! Some are prototypes, others have already entered production. Because only in this way can the fruits of creative imagination materialize. Because only in this way can you share your passion with others. Because only in this way can you truly transform the world around us into a more functional and beautiful place.

Some of the designs were created just a few months ago. But there are others that have waited many years, like the adjustable-height shelving unit invented in 1959 by Rajmund Teofil Hałas. It was sitting in a drawer, and we took it out into the light of day. And here it is! It's a delight to the eye. It's becoming an everyday fixture in every apartment—including our own. It's a very contemporary piece of furniture. It has withstood the passage of time, or perhaps it was simply decades ahead of its time. We hope Professor Hałas is happy and cheering us on from a better world.

We believe Jan Węcławski is also keeping his fingers crossed for us. At the exhibition, you'll see his legendary armchair from the Hotel Merkury. We're very grateful to the National Museum in Poznań for loaning it to us. We dream of giving this armchair a second life. After all, what could be more functional and stylish than Polish furniture from the turn of the 1950s and 1960s? See for yourself and see the armchair for yourself.

We feel honored that our exhibition was chosen by one of the most charismatic Polish designers for the premiere of his series of works entitled "Corundum" - Marek Cecuła. These extraordinary objects are made of corundum – a material with special properties. Until now, it had been used in heavy industry, primarily in the military, exploiting its hardness (in this respect, it is second only to diamond!). Meanwhile, Marek Cecuła also recognized its interesting tactile and color qualities. Fascinated by corundum's unique transparency, he designed vessels that evoke esoteric rites and magical rituals. As if he believed that the greatest power resides in the spirit, not in a heavily armed machine. We believe the same.

One thing we're really excited about is Michał Kowalski's Ice Board. His ice board has already been tested on Lake Kierskie. It's incredibly fast! It's also lightweight (you can carry it under your arm!), and Michał strives to keep it as affordable as possible. He loves sports (including extreme sports) and is committed to sharing his passion. Let's keep our fingers crossed for him!

Each piece of furniture we've shown has its own story. We could talk about each for hours. And each piece is meant to be used, first and foremost. So we invite you to the exhibition. There, you'll be able to touch, try, familiarize yourself with, and appreciate them, as well as meet the designers in person.
You will see works by Tomasz Augustyniak, Justyna Bagińska–Stosik, Michał Bartkowiak, Jakub Buszyński, Marek Cecuła, Paweł Grajkowski, Rajmund Teofil Hałas, Michał Kowalski, Katarzyna Laskowska, Ryszard Mańczak, Tomasz Andrzej Rudkiewicz, Karol Starczewski, Anna Trafas–Kowalczyk, Maja Uzarowicz, Jan Węcławski.

During the opening on February 19 at 5 p.m., the Zigzag Paradise band will play live for us: Alex Wirtz – guitar, voice, tabla, duduk, Panos Anasontzis – guitar, percussion, Hubert Kulikowski – guitar, Zbigniew Francuskiik – bass, Marcin Tuliszkiewicz – guitar.
The Szałpiw family brewery, founded by Wojciech and Jan Szała, will serve its flagship beer, a brew that's becoming increasingly popular in Poznań. You can try their "Szczun," seasoned with a subtle hoppy bitterness, and for a sweeter alternative, we suggest the dark "Deszcz w Cisnej" from a friendly brewery in the Bieszczady Mountains.

Most of the events we have prepared will take place at stand number 1 in pavilion five, but we will also meet you at the arena DESIGN Forum.

We invite designers, technologists, students, and anyone simply interested in Polish design who wants to live in a functional, friendly, and beautiful world. See you there!

The exhibition opening is on February 19, 2014, at 5 p.m. The exhibition is open from February 18 to 21, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (on Fridays until 4 p.m.).

Entry to our stand after purchase arena DESIGN ticket.
